Camphor Laurel Yarn Bowl

189.00

Yarn bowls are a great help to keep your balls of wool from rolling away or just out of reach of curious pets or kids while you knit or crochet the hours away, they are not only handy but should also be as beautiful and crafted with the same love that you are putting into your craft.

This hand crafted yarn bowl turned in Camphor Laurel. It was turned in my workshop in Heathmont, a leafy suburb of outer Melbourne and sanded and polished to a fine finish, the yarn slot is then cut by hand and sanded to allow the smooth feed out of your yarn.

Camphor Laurel has a highly variable grain and colour that ensures that every bowl will be a unique addition to your knitting or crochet accessories.

Camphor laurel (Cinnamomum camphora) is an evergreen tree which grows up to 20 m in height. A native of china, it was introduced to Australia in 1822 as an ornamental tree but has become an invasive weed in Qld and Northern NSW, they are long-lived with some trees being over 100 years old and reports of some up to 500 years old in their native habitat. The wood of the Camphor laurel has long been renowned for its volatile, fragrant insect-repellent oils.

This bowl measures 18 cm x 9 cm (7" x 3.5") giving it a bigger capacity for larger 200g balls of wool
